The Purple Hearts have five albums to their name (six if you count the Head on/Pop-ish Frenzy two-fer CD). The classic 1980 Beat That! album was released on Polydor off-shoot FICTION Records in March of that year. 'Head On Collision Time' came out in 1985 and is a live album recorded at London's 100 Club the year before, it includes all the bands big singles & rocks like a toddler on a swing.
The bands second studio album was 1986's 'Pop-ish Frenzy' which showcased a wider choice of styles & influences and includes some of the bands great live tunes including 'Gun Of Life' & 'Friends Again". Some interviews suggest that the band were happier with this than their first album.
2003 saw Mod specialist label Detour Records release an album of rarities and outtakes in the form of the 'Smashing Time' album, including unrelesed demos of 'Plane Crash' & 'Smashing Time' as well as storming covers of Back To Zero's 'Your Side Of Heaven' and TV21's 'Playing With Fire'.
Captain Mod has chosen now to release the Mod Singles Collection in September 2009. First ever compilation gathering together every A and B side issued by Mod Revival legends The Purple Hearts. Includes the chart hits "Millions Like Us" and "Jimmy" plus 4 tracks never previously issued on CD before.
