The Hearts first release 'Millions Like Us' was issued in August 1979, from the opening Townsend meets the Mick Jones guitar riff, Millions set out the Purple Hearts stall as the New Wave eras holders of the power pop Mod flame. Backed by John Peel favourite 'Beat That', the single peaked at 57, a promising sign for a new band. Produced by Chris Parry, the man responsible THE JAM's sound. The sleeve showed the band in their Mod threads, while the back cover revealed them in full live glory!
Both sides are now available on the re-issued 'BEAT THAT' CD on 'Captain Mod' . But be aware the itunes album version of 'Millions' is a live version and not the classic single.
Beat That was also released as a 7" in New Zealand, on Stunn Records as the b-side to Jimmy (See singles)
